Riverside, IL is the first master planned community in the United States. Designed in 1869 by Calvert Vaux and Frederick Ian Olmsted, there are many architecturally significant homes and buildings in this 2 square mile village.
There is a Metra station in downtown Riverside connecting the village directly to the city of Chicago. It’s also a 9 mile drive east to the City, or an easy commute to either O’Hare of Midway airports.
The whole town is an architectural museum with a National Historic Landmark designation. There is a mixture of bungalows, Victorians, and early 20th century mansions designed by famous architects including Frank Lloyd Wright. Riverside still maintains many of it’s original design elements including curvilinear streets and gas-lit street lamps.
How important to obtain a pre approval? -An important step in making an offer is to determine how you will purchase the property – will you be obtaining a mortgage or are you paying cash? Most homebuyers will finance a purchase of this size so the first step in the process, even before seriously beginning your search, is to speak with a lender and have them prepare a pre approval letter for you.
